Vasil Kisil & Partners Yet Again Named Law Firm of the Year and Score a Four Nominations Win
On June 4, 2010, Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kyiv hosted the Legal Award Ceremony “Yuridicheskaya premia 2010” established by “The Yuridicheskaya Practika” newspaper. The legal beau-monde convened in the early summer for the third year in a row to honor the best local jurisprudence professionals. This exiting event gathered over one hundred representatives from law firms, legal departments in large companies and independent legal practitioners.
The number of nominations celebrating excellence has been growing each year, with competition between market players increasing as well. This time, winners were awarded in 23 categories. Leading law practitioners were nominated both by the members of the legal services market and business representatives who were active in their efforts to support and recognize legal excellence through “Yuridicheskaya premia 2010”.
According to the short-list, Vasil Kisil & Partners Law Firm and its individual employees were among the three leaders with 10 nominations:

- Law Firm of the Year in M&A
- Law Firm of the Year in Real Estate
- Law Firm of the Year in Intellectual Property
- Law Firm of the Year in Litigation
- Law Firm of the Year
- Best Real Estate Lawyer (Oleg Alyoshin)
- Best Banking & Finance Lawyer (Yulia Kyrpa)
- Best Tax Lawyer (Ivan Yurchenko)
- Best Law Firm Partner (Oleg Alyoshin)
In the end, Vasil Kisil & Partners captured 4 awards, most prestigious one being selected the Law Firm of the Year, proving worthy of this title for the third year in a row. Oleg Makarov accepted the award, thanking everybody for recognition and wishing “all the leaders in the market to realize their responsibility for high level of professionalism achieved, to facilitate excellence in the provision of legal services and to focus on building partnerships at firms by allowing young experts to hold key positions and to build and develop this market.”
Denis Lysenko, Head of Corporate and M&A Practice, was undoubtedly one of the key triumphators this year, having accepted two awards: Law Firm of the Year in Corporate Law and Law Firm of the Year in M&A. Mr. Lysenko thanked his professional team for having secured such top score and wide recognition of the practice among businesses and professionals.
Oleg Alyoshin, Head of Real Estate, Public Private Partnership, Concessions & Infrastructure Practice, received the Best Real Estate Lawyer in Ukraine honorary award for the second year in row. Mr. Alyoshin thanked the event organizers and emphasized: “This award is a result of top-notch work of our outstanding professionals. I could not have such success by myself without their support and joint obstinate efforts. Notwithstanding a considerable construction recession for the last year and a half, our firm sees a grand potential for this practice, in particular, for infrastructure improvement in Ukraine, first of all, counting on the combined governmental and private business efforts. Our team has been one of pioneers to develop this practice. And we believe our legislative initiatives shall revive the market.”
This year “Yuridicheskaya premia” awards were special because they gave their due to younger legal practitioners from Vasil Kisil & Partners: Senior Associates Yulia Kyrpa (nominated as on of the best banking lawyers in Ukraine) and Ivan Yurchenko (noted as one of the best tax law specialist). “Development and professional growth has always been among key priorities of our team. We see that the legal market has been getting younger and are proud of our colleagues’ ability to compete with well-known seasoned professionals,” – commented Oleg Makarov, Managing Partner with the firm.
